In the framework of the World Fish Migration Day 2022, the University of Évora and MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, together with the Municipality of Águeda, will organize an interpretative walking along the banks of the Agueda River, under the LIFE Águeda Project – Conservation and Management Actions for Migratory Fish in the Vouga River Basin (LIFE16 ENV/PT/000411). The walk will take place during the morning and includes part of the inclusive PR9 trail, between Águeda and Espinhel-bridge, which is adapted to people with restricted mobility (further information: adapted trail – Águeda). During the trail, we’ll see some of the riparian gallery restoration and renaturalization works. At lunch, all participants are invited for a picnic at the Parque Fluvial da Redonda, on the banks of the Águeda River, where we will talk about the interventions that are taking place to re-establish the river connectivity for migratory fish and play thematic games about the aquatic ecosystems. Participants should bring suitable clothing and footwear, food (morning snack and picnic) and plenty of water. A beach towel or blanket for the picnic by the river may be useful too (the fluvial park has pic-nic tables and barbecue place). Hat and sunscreen are recommended. Walk: Difficulty level – easy, flat terrain. Distance – approx. 11 km Duration – ~ 2,5 hours Picnic: ~ 2 hours
