The University of KwaZulu-Natal together with AROCHA-ZA is hosting World Fish Migration Day in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. We are in search for the Red-Tailed Barb that has been listed as vulnerable by the IUCN and disappeared from the streams of Pietermaritzburg. We hoping to find it on this years World Fish Migration Day in the quiet clean water in the Cascade stream that has several in-stream barriers and urban influence stressors downstream. We welcome local participation as we demonstrate fish sampling techniques and hopefully catch some other local fish species. Contact us for more information.
