Brooks and small rivers constitute about 80 % of a river catchment – but much too often they are neglected. They, however, are a vital part of rivers, e.g. serving as spawning and growth area ,”Kinderstube”, for many species, esp. the salmonids (and others). In heavily populated and intensively agriculturally used areas there is lack of space. Spawning ground, current deflectors, drift collectors of wood are examples for help on the way to vital brooks.
