Importance of Rivers for sustainable fisheries and livelihood
Rivers are much important for the sustainable fisheries, their habitat, ecology, flow and regime has to be conserved for the overall fish well being. Rivers not provide fish for eating and recreation, they provide water for drinking, irrigation and for producing hydroelectricity and other renewable energy. They provide livelihood to millions of people directly or indirectly. However, due to unabated anthropogenic activities, unfortunately these water resource have been polluted, choked and dried during the last few decades. In order to restore their lost pristine glory, it is important to make general masses aware about their well being, pollution free, and ecologically sustainable.
