The day started with a symposium identifying the loss of some migrating fishes in Nigeria. Tracing this loss to over -harvesting, persistence of micro plastics and other pollutants and the non nonchalant attitude of Government and decision makers to fisheries conservation. he event was followed by a river clean up. The final charge was given by the director of research and innovation, University of Lagos, professor Wellington Oyibo, calling on the various stake holder to invest into research and come up with better strategies for fisheries management.
