The Society is a non-profit academic or social organization whose purpose is to promote basic research and conservation of the systematic classification, evolution, ecology, physiology, behavior, morphology, heredity, occurrence, and conservation of fishes, to promote communication and cooperation among industry, government, academia, and all sectors of the community, to provide the results of the research to all sectors of the community for their enquiry and use, to raise the standard of ichthyological research and education, and to devote itself to the conservation and sustainable use of fishes in Taiwan.
