Salmon Summit is an annual outdoor education event serving approximately 3,000 local students from over 35 schools.  This field trip is the culminating activity for fourth and fifth grade students participating in Benton Conservation District’s “Salmon in the Classroom” program.  Students bring salmon they raised at school with them to Salmon Summit for release into the Columbia River at Columbia Park in Kennewick, WA.  After releasing the salmon, students participate in a scheduled series of educational field stations which include hands-on activities centered around science, art, history, culture, recreational and natural resource management.  Benton Conservation District coordinates this event with federal, tribal, state, county, municipal, non-profit, and volunteer organizations
