On the occasion of the World Fish Migration Day, the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic, in cooperation with the Prague Zoo, the T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute and the Czech Fishermen’s Association prepared an educational program focused on the life of fish in Czech waterways. On Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., an event for the public dedicated to the protection of native Czech fish species and the issue of fish migration will take place in the premises of the Prague Zoo.

The general public will learn interesting things about the life of fish, what threatens them and also the fact that fish migration is not only about fish in the seas. The public can look forward to an interactive presentation of representatives of the Czech ichthyofauna and the environment they inhabit, an introduction to the issue of fragmentation and the permeability of watercourses, as well as some activities that introduce the practical protection of water ecosystems. Families with childrencan enjoy various fun activities that will bring them closer to the practical nature conservation. Several interesting lectures on fish protection, the (im)passability of watercourses and other topics are also prepared for those who will be interested.
