Its small area and countryside have been suitable for human settlement since ancient times. The excavated sites prove that they have lived in this region for more than four thousand years. The first written record is a certified source that mentions Kisköré in the form of Kure in 1323, in 1332-37. in the annual papal tithe list. The life of the people living here has always been determined by the proximity of the Tisza River. Fishing and agriculture were the main means of livelihood, and these are also the most important motifs of its coat of arms. Its development was also based on the Tisza river. In 1967, the construction of the Kiskörei Water Barrier began, which significantly changed the life of the settlement. It was then that more spectacular development began, housing estates were built, public buildings were established, economic and social life revived, and the population increased.In 2000, the leadership of Kisköre first submitted its request to be declared a city, in the hope that the status of a city would indirectly or directly, sooner or later, contribute to the settlement’s material enrichment and development. In 2003, the settlement and area development efforts reached such a level of development that the Municipality could again boldly apply for city status. The development, institutions, and regional role of the settlement increasingly justified the acquisition of a title of greater rank. On May 17, 2005, the happy news arrived that Kisköre’s acquisition of city status was supported by the reviewers.
