This participatory science workshop will take place at the beaver ponds of a small river in central Poland that was on the migration pass of eel.  The area used intensively for agriculture was heavily meliorated in the past and rivers turned into straight drain channels, what leads to water shortages. Many small barriers limited the passage of eel and maybe some other migratory species. Recently the agricultural pressure was reduced, but shortages of water remained. Beavers create dams that help store the water, but also create fish migration barrier.

At the our stakeholder science workshop, scientists, practitioners of river restoration, farmers, local administrators and politicians will discuss future options of agricultural and water management to  improve the water storage, ecosystem services and fish migration of small tributaries of Wistula River. It will be based on the local case study of beaver pond on the River Cienka.
