In our fourth RVA World Fish Migration day celebration we will continue to host a multifaceted day of activities along the James River in Richmond Virginia.   Due to the USA holiday weekend of the selected international date (5/25) we will be hosting our local event on May 4, 2024.

The event includes two primary events a festival like setting at Ancarrow’s Landing from 10am – 1pm and a tour of the Boshers Dam fishway 2:30 – 4:30 pm. Though free, you must pre-register for the fishway tour: https://license.gooutdoorsvirginia.com/Event/ViewEvent.aspx?id=4221

The event at Ancarrows Landing does not require registration and is great for all ages. Our project partners will have the following activities on-site.

DWR:

Biologists will collect a variety of fish from the James River to display at Ancarrows Landing in a touch tank for participants to get an up close and personal look at species such as migratory shad, herring, eels and Striped Bass as well as resident fish such as bass and catfish.
There will be an opportunity to tour the Boshers Dam vertical slot fishway in the afternoon of May 4th (pre-registration required; please see DWR website for details)
DWR will also have a tent/table display with information about the Department of Wildlife Resources.  Free handouts will include fish posters, measuring tapes and stickers for the younger kids.

JRA:
