Join volunteers across the valley for the annual Clean Up Green Up in celebration of Colorado Public Lands Day and World Fish Migration Day. This year is extra special since it will be the first CUGU since the removal of the Salida Low Head Dam, reconnecting over 100 miles of Gold Medal trout fishery for upstream fish passage. The Greater Arkansas River Nature Association and Colorado Park and Wildlife’s Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area co-host this event to clean up our watershed in prep for the busy summer season. This year, CUGU will also include Gear Up to Summer at Riverside Park. AHRA staff will pass out trash bags in the morning for participants to fill and return. Participants then head out on their own across the AHRA to clean up the river corridor of trash and litter. If you have your own raft and are familiar with the section, you can float down the river and clean up from a boat. This will also be a great time to float through the site of the removed dam and see this newly restored section.
