Some 55 fisheries students, lecturers and researchers from the Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Royal University of Agriculture, and Wonders of the Mekong Project in Cambodia will participate in a field visit to the Preah Nimit Waterfalls, which is the natural barrier to fish migration, critical micro-aquatic habitat, and hydrology in the Mekong River, Cambodia. The purpose of the event is to link fisheries students, lecturers, and researchers to understand the challenges faced by migratory fish due to human activities (e.g. dam and habitat degradation), and to raise awareness and actions toward better understanding about the migratory fish life cycles, river connectivity, and their critical habitats that are of importance for the conservation of migratory fish populations.
