World Fish Migration day – Quarken Event 26.4.

Finnish Federation for Recreational Fishing (FFRF)

During the day we will especially delve into the migration of the spring spawning fish, which will – at the altitude of Quarken – mainly happen in the latter part of April. The Quarken event will be held slightly in advance, the official date for The World Fish Migration Day being May 21st.

Exploring the spawning creek
The day will begin with an exploration trip to a stream in Björköby, a village situated on the coast of Vaasa. The spawning fish migrate along said stream to finally emerge into a pond. We will probably be able to follow the spawning migration of perch, pike and roach and perhaps even their spawning. There will be experts on site telling the participants more about springtime spawning fish, spawning grounds, the renovation of such grounds and the overall importance of these. We meet 26.4. at10:00 at the parking lot near the Svedjeham fishing port
We will walk together from the parking lot to the nearby creek. Rubber boots and weatherproof  clothing are recommended.

A film screening in the Draama-hall of the Vaasa city library
At 5pm the 26. April we will get together in the Draama-hall of the city library of Vaasa. First there will be a presentation by the Quarken Sea Trout Association, to show what they are doing for the benefit of local fish populations. After the presentation it´s time for the award-winning film DamNation.
