Save the Blue Heart of Europe
A brand-new study about European Eel distribution in the Vjosa/Aoos catchment. This critically endangered species migrates upstream, however loss of habitat and mortality during both up- and downstream migration due to dams have led to a major decline in populations. In the un-dammed Vjosa river, the European Eel still finds habitat. The authors of the study call for the Vjosa/Aoos to be protected in order to secure its outstanding conservation value. We think the European Eel would be very happy about a Vjosa Wild River National Park. Let’s make it happen!
